Udupi: Dr PV Bhandary chosen for Alevoor Group Award

Udupi, Jan 29: Renowned psychiatrist Dr P V Bhandary has been chosen for the prestigious Alevoor Group Award-2013, instituted by Alevoor Group for Education, Alevoor.

Dr Bhandary is the medical director of Dr A V Baliga Hospital, Doddanagudde, Udupi and is famous for conducting alcohol de-addiction camps, in Udupi and DK districts.

Udupi Zilla Panchayath CEO Prabhakar Sharma will present the Alevoor Group Award, comprising a silver plaque, to Dr P V Bhandary at the annual day celebrations of Shathiniketan English Medium School, a unit of Alevoor Group for Education, to be held at Alevoor on January 30 Wednesday, at 4.30 pm.

The principal of Cross Land College, Brahmavar professor Samuel K Samuel will be the chief guest and release the annual bulletin of the group `Around Alevoor’. President of the Group Alevoor Ganapathi Kini will preside over the programme.

In the past, the Alevoor Group Award, instituted in the year 2005, had been presented to octogenarian P Rabeendra Nayak, environmentalist N Murari Ballal (posthumously); artist Ramesh Rao; renowned social worker Dr S Ramananda Bhat; former district surgeon Dr UM Vaidya, president of Alva’s Education Trust Dr Mohan Alva; noted advocate Shirthady William Pinto; Kannada novelist Sara Aboobaker; gynecologist Dr Pratap Kumar and educationist professor M D Nanjunda.
