Belthangady, Jan 28: Christ the King Church Venur, organized a half-day training session to all the members of ward committee (SCCs) on Sunday January 27.
The purpose of this training was to revive SCCs in building up a participatory Church. The gathering began at 2.30 pm with the enthronement of the Bible.
Parish Priest Fr Antony Lewis gave the inaugural message and said that to make the year of faith meaningful we need to strengthen SCCs in the parishes because it helps us to grow in faith and also to live what we profess and celebrate.
Fr Walter D’Souza, the director of SCCs for Mangalore diocese was the resource person along with Br Johnson Sequeira, Robert D'Souza and Asha Monteiro.
The members of central committee conducted the prayer service and invoked divine blessings.
The sessions included how to conduct meaningful ward meetings, deeper understanding of Gospel sharing, evaluation of SCCs, clarification of doubts through power points.
L J Fernandes welcomed the gathering. Parish SCCs convener proposed the vote of thanks.
Nearly 50 ward committee members from five wards were present.
