Udupi, Jan 28: Mangalore-Margoa train for the first time halted at Nandikoor railway station here on Saturday January 26.
Lalajji Mendon along with several other members gathered and welcomed the train by bursting crackers and distributing sweets.
“There was a huge demand for railway station at Nandikoor station and after continuous efforts, the department has decided to give a halt for the Mangalore- Margao train at the station”, said Lalajji Mendon.
He also added that in future, they would also try to give stops for Mathsyagandha and other trains at this station. The Mangalore-Margao passenger train will halt here from 7.27 am to 7.28 am and from 6.48 pm to 6.49 pm, he informed.
Udupi APMC president Lakshman Shetty, Palimar gram panchayat president Giriappa Poojary, former president Navinchandra Suvarna, Madhukar Suvarna, Jithendra Purtado, Anantharaj Prabhu, station master DV Suresh, member of train passengers association Deepak Kamanth and Neelesh Falimaru were present on the occasion.
