Kundapur, Jan 25: Sri Rama Sene strongly opposes union government's plan to set up Tipu Sultan University in Karnataka and the subsequent announcement made by minority affairs minister Rehman Khan in this regard, said Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik.
Addressing mediapersons here on Friday January 25, he said, "We will not allow the government to set up university named after Tipu Sultan in Karnataka under any circumstances. By setting up university in a Muslim leader's name, more treacheries activities will take place.
"It will be easier for the likes of Madani, Afzal Guru and Simi organizations to plot against the country once the university is set up. It will be bring further trouble to the country once the university is established," he said.
"Tipu was against Hindus. He demolished many temples during his rule. Let alone naming it after Tipu Sultan, we do not want the university itself for minorities, as Muslims are already given opportunities in all institutions," he said.
"Even in the Constitution, there is no provision for a separate university. If this is the case then Rehman Khan should apologize for going against the Constitution."
"In the interests of the nation, we should fight together leaving aside our difference in religion and caste. Sri Ram Sene is working on the same path and for this good cause prominent persons like S L Byrappa, Chidananda Murthy are supporting us. We should create awareness among the people on this issue," he said.
Against Valentine’s Day
"The Sri Ram Sene is also against the celebration of Valentine's Day on February 14. Permission should not be given to celebrate the day in colleges, hostels, hotels and other places. The sex mafia and MNCs are behind this celebration and appeal will be submitted to the officials concerned to prevent the celebration," Muthalik said.
'Irresponsible statement by Shinde'
"The statement given by home minister Sushilkumar Shinde is like a statement by Al-Qaeda. Hindus have expressed their anger over the statement. His claim that RSS is indulging in terrorist activities is baseless, as RSS has never been involved in such acts. His statement is mainly to attract vote banks on behalf of Congress," Muthalik said.
"Pakistan is a factory for terrorist activities and Congress is responsible for creating this. Shinde should apologize for his statement and submit his resignation," he demanded.
"Why is there such division in our country which gives equal opportunities to all? Such statements by responsible persons divide the country," he said, while also condemning the alleged hate speech made by Hyderbad MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi.
'BJP appeasing minorities'
"Like other parties, even BJP government is trying to weaken the Hindu organization. Even they are busy in appeasing the minorities by deciding to establish Hajj Bhavan. But the proposal by Sri Rama Sene to establish Ayyappa Swami Bhavan has still not been considered," he lamented.
'BJP is playing double game by wearing the mask of Hindutva and hurting Hindus at the same time. The Congress government did not register cases on Hindu activists the way BJP government has done. They have changed the meaning of Hindutva by filing 13 cases on me and by sending me to jail for 7 times," he said.
'Even if Narendra Modi were to come to Karnataka, I am sure people will not support BJP. Let them make Modi a presidential candidate if senior BJP leaders have confidence in him," he challenged.
"We will try to bring a change in the society, and try to ensure that only suitable candidates stand for the election. Talks are on with various people in the regard," he added.
