Udupi, Jan 20: "Pulse polio drive should be held regularly. The efforts of people's representatives, people and organizations has helped in eradicating polio in the state," said Udupi district incharge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.
He was speaking at the first round of pulse polio immunization programme held at government hospital for women and children here on Sunday January 20.
He said that as many as 631 booths have been set up in the district for the purpose with 2,532 volunteers taking part.
In addition, door-to-door campaign will be held in rural areas on January 21 and 22, and in city and town areas on January 21, 22, and 23, so that no child is missed out.
ZP president Upendra Nayak, taluk panchayat president Gouri Poojary, DC Dr M T Reju, ZP CEO Prabhakar Sharma, city muncipality vice-president Bharati Chandrashekar, pulse police district nodal officer Rangaswamy, district health and family welfare officer Dr Ramacharadra Bairy, city muncipal commissioner Gokuldas Nayak, Udupi Rotary president I K Jayachandra Rao and Nirmala Prabhakar were present.
