Mangalore, Jan 18: “The office of the district health and family welfare, Dakshina Kannada, will conduct the first phase of Pulse Polio Immunization Program in the district on Sunday January 20”, informed DC N Prakash here on Thursday January 17.
Addressing a press conference at his office, he said that children of those who have migrated from other parts of the state and nation will be given priority as a high number of such children are working at many places in the city. “The district administration is all set to act”, he added.
He also informed that based on previous complaints of non-cooperation from the apartment residents during the visit of pulse polio immunization staff, he has already informed the MCC commissioner to address the issue with the apartment owners. It can be noted that in previous years, the security guards of a few flats denied them entry.
He informed that in all, 1,63,860 children are to be vaccinated in the district out of which children of migrants are 2319 approximately. “A total of 921 booths will be opened, 3822 vaccinators will be on duty and 11 mobile teams will be working for the cause, 27 transit teams will be in railway stations and bus stands”, he said.
Dr M Rukmini, reproductive and child health officer, Dakshina Kannada, Dr O R Srirangappa, district health and family welfare officer, ADC Dayanand, MCC commissioner Dr Harish Kumar and district information officer Rohini were present among others.
