Kolkata, Jan 17 (IANS): The CPI-M's Central Committee began a three-day meeting here Thursday to discuss a host of issues including sewing a national alternative to both the Congress and the BJP.
The Communist Party of India-Marxist will also take up the upcoming assembly elections in Tripura, which it rules, as well as the government's economic policies.
"(We will discuss) the creation of an alternative (to) the Congress and the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)," party leader Sitaram Yechury said.
The Feb 14 elections in Tripura is crucial to the CPI-M as it is the only state where it is now in power.
