Kundapur: Students Allege Harassment by Teacher, Boycott Classes

Kundapur, Jan 16: Chaos prevailed at Koteshwar Government First Grade College here on Tuesday January 15 after staged a protest against a Kannada lecturer for allegedly harassing them.
The students claimed that Usha, a lecturer in Kannada, has been constantly harassing them in the classroom. There are also allegations that Usha is not regular to class and verbally abuses the students.
On Monday January 14 afternoon, Usha allegedly hurled verbal abuses at the girls and boys of second PU class and also called them 'children of the British' and so on, for which the students took offence.
On Tuesday morning, the students boycotted the class and demanded public apology from the lecturer. However, Usha, though she admitted to the students' allegation, refused to apologize despite the intervention of college principal Abhishekam.
Angered by this, the students staged a flash protest against the lecturer and shouted slogans against her.
Kundapur police arrived at the spot. Another round of talks was held in the presence of circle inspector Manjunath Kavari, sub inspector Jayaram D Gowda, and principal Abhishekam.
Finally, the matter was resovled after the lecturer issued a public apology to the students and the protest was called off.
