Udupi, Jan 13: The Women and Child Welfare Department, Karnataka State Balabhavan Society Bangalore, District Balabhavan Samithi jointly organized inter-district cultural exchange programme at the district Bal Bhavan premises Brahmagiri, here on Saturday January 11.
Kota Srinivas Poojary, minister in-charge inaugurated the programme. MLA Raghupathy Bhat presided over the programme.
Prateeksha who won the state level ‘Kalashree’ Award for painting of Swami Vivekananda during 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanandha; including three others and district-level winners were felicitated on the occasion.
Kota in his inaugural address said, “Efforts put in by Sulochana G K Bhat, who managed the situation at a time when the Bal Bhavan was in a jeopardy, is praiseworthy”. Proposal for market (for self-help group) of Rs 1.5 crore has been forwarded to the state government. The Anganwadi children will be provided with nutritious food. As many as 15 lac children will benefit from this. Under the Bhagyalaxmi scheme, every girl child will receive a substantial sum of Rs 1 lac when she turns 18, he added.
Rita Marta, assistant director of Women and Child Welfare Department, Upendra Nayak, president of zilla panchayat, Sulochana G K Bhat, president of Karnataka Bal Bhavan Society, Bangalore, Sheela Shetty, president of State Coir Development Board, DC Dr MT Reju, and Prabhakar Sharma among others were present.
