Leading Internal Medicine Specialists Honoured by GMU

Ajman, Jan 13: Leading medical experts from all over UAE converged at Gulf Medical University (GMU) to discuss various issues related to internal medicine. The event was organized by the department of internal medicine, GMC Hospital, here, on Saturday January 12, at GMU campus.

As part of the conference, the management and academic leadership of the Gulf Medical University bestowed a ?Special Award and Honor? on leading internal medicine specialists from UAE, in recognition of their exemplary achievements in the field of medicine and for their service to the community.

The special awards function was held at GMU campus.

Thumbay Moideen, founder president, board of governors; Gulf Medical University and Professor Gita Ashok Raj ? provost, GMU did the honors by presenting the special awards to the invited eminent internal medicine specialists of UAE.

The conference aimed to focus on the recent advances in gastroenterology, cardiology, pulmonology, dermatology and hematology and their related disorders at clinical and research levels. ?We wish to provide an interactive platform for doctors, scientists, and health care organizations, medical and pharmaceutical companies so as to formulate co-axial strategies to enhance medical care? said professor Sheik Altaf Basha, the chairman of the Scientific Committee. Renowned experts from UAE delivered lectures on various topics.

Dubai Medical College, Dr Mona Alrukhaimi, president of the Emirates Medical Association, Nephrology Society, member of the governing board of the Arab Society of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation, Dr Bassam Mahboub, head of allergy and respiratory department, Dubai Hospital vice chair, emirates allergy and respiratory society - Dubai, UAE, Dr Ali Abdulkarim Al Obaidli, chief clinical officer, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), Dr Abdulla Ustadi, head of infectious diseases, Rashid Hospital ?DHA, Dr Kadhim Al Sahlani, consultant internist and gastroenterologist, Fujairah Hospital,  Dr M Hosni Gomaa, consultant physician, Al Zahra Hospital, Sharjah, Dr Shaikh Altaf Basha, head of internal medicine, GMC Hospital-Ajman, Dr Mahir Khalil Jallo, consultant internal Medicine-Gulf Medical University, and Dr Hossein Elyassi, gastroenterologist, The Iranian Hospital Dubai.
