Mangalore, Jan 7 Heralding a new political development in the district, the ad-hoc preparatory committee has been formed paving way for the launching of the Aam Admi Party (AAP) in Dakshina Kannada. The committee comprising of 40 members was carved out during a meeting held at Sahodaya in the city on Sunday, in presence of representatives of Karnataka State unit from Bangalore.
The meeting was chaired by K N Chandrakanth who highlighted the preamble and the vision document of the party as proposed by its founder convener Arvind Kejriwal. Pramod Karkera and Hariharan from Bangalore also provided inputs regarding the mooting of the party in the state through the constitution of the district level committees.
Consumer activist and businessman from Kinnigoli Robert Rosario was unanimously nominated as the convener of the Ad Hoc preparatory committee while former journalist and activist S Nandagopal was named for the post of Joint Convener. Social worker Rohan Shiri will be the secretary and chartered accountant Agnel Pereira will be the treasurer.
The formative meeting also discussed about the way ahead with the organizing of the various wings of the party which include that of women and students. The ad-hoc committee will be responsible for the formation of the grass root level organizational structure following which the restructuring of the district level committees will take place through a democratic process.
