Udupi, Jan 7: A teenager was killed near Admar-Yermal cross on NH 66 here on Monday January 7, after a tempo rammed into him.
The deceased has been identified as M Shesha Nandan Pai (17), son of Sadananda Pai of Padubidiri.
The accident occured when Shesha was on his way to Poornaprajna College, where is was studying.
He took a bus from Padubidri to Yermal where he alighted. He was walking towards Admar when speeding tempo plying from Udupi to Mangalore ran over him. A grievously injured Shesha was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced brought dead.
He was a student of first year science student at Poornaprajna PU College.
He was the only son of Sadananda Pai, who is a pygmy collector at Padubidri cooperative union. Shesha is survived by his parents and a sister.
The students of Poornaprajna College, who were shocked to hear of their college mate's death, offered silent prayers for him. The college principal expressed his condolence on the Shesha's sad demise.
Padubidri inspector Mahadeva Shetty conducted the intial investigations and filed a complaint. Further investigations have been taken up by Kaup circle inspector Shivanand Walekar.
