Chandigarh, Dec 30 (IANS): Cold and foggy conditions returned in most parts of Punjab and Haryana Sunday morning after two days of clear, sunny weather in the region.
Most towns and cities including Chandigarh, the joint capital of both the states, were enveloped in a thick fog early Sunday, a Met department official said.
The official said Ambala, Hisar and Karnal in Haryana and Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala in Punjab had a moderate to thick blanket of fog, which affected road traffic and rail and air services in the region.
Chandigarh and other places had witnessed some sunshine in the past two days after a spell of foggy weather for over four days.
Hisar at 2.2 degrees Celsius, Narnaul at 3 degrees and Bhiwani at 3.2 degrees were the coldest in Haryana.
Amritsar in Punjab recorded a low of 5.2 degrees Celsius Sunday. The minimum temperature in Chandigarh was 6.7 degrees Celsius.
Met officials said there would be no let up in the fog in the next 24 hours.
