Margao: First All-India Konkani Dance Contest ‘Yaya Ind-ya Mayaya’ Launched in City

Goa, Dec 21: Prince Jacob, the president of the Tiatr Academy of Goa and Sidhanath Buyao of Buyao Theatres, conducted the Goa launching of ‘yaya ind-ya mayaya’, at Rabindra Bhavan, on December 16, at 4 pm.

Tomazinho Cardozo, president – Jagotik Konkani Songhotton, Naveen Lobo, vice-president – Mandd Sobhann, Vitori Karkol, secretary – Konkani Prachar Sanchalan, Avil D’cruz, leader – Nach Sobhann and Eric Ozario, the chief of the organising committee, were present on the occasion.

‘Nach Sobhann’, the dance troupe of Mandd Sobhann, Mangalore, presented 4 dances and Eric Ozario briefed the gathering about the rules and regulations of the contest. He also declared the date of the Goa audition.

The Goa audition of ‘Yaya Ind-Ya Mayaya’ (one among the 7 audition centres in India) will be held on January 6 2013, at the Rabindra Bhavan Main Hall, Margao, at 9.30 in the morning.

All those interested in participating in the duet and the group category should register their names immediately and appear for the audition and draw the lots at 9.30, that morning. Those who haven’t registered can do so between 8.30 and 9.30, at the Venue, that morning.

At the auditions, the two best duets and two best groups, will be selected (from each centre) to move to the semifinals to be held in Mangalore on May 18 2013.
