Kundapur, Dec 19: The annual feast of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception was celebrated recently at Blessed Jospeh Vaz Hall, Gangolli. The event also marked the valedictory of the silver jubilee celebrations of the Society of St Vincent De Paul area council, Kundapur.
Albert Sequeira, president of Mangalore central council of SSVP inaugurated the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “The society of St Vincent De Paul has helped many needy people from the past 25 years. The society works for the betterment of the poor and needy people with educational, financial support.”
Dr Gerald I Lobo, bishop of Udupi diocese was the chief guest for the function.
Elroy Kiran Crasto, president of St Jacob Area Council, Kundapur, in his introductory speech appealed the Vincentian’s to give better and fruitful service to needy and convey the Jesus Christ message to the society.
Valerian Menezes, secretary of St Jacob area Council Kundapur read the annual report. This was followed by the reports from secretaries of 11 units.
Gration D’Souza, treasurer of St Jacob area Council, Kundapur put forward the annual accounts report.
Past presidents of St Jacob Area Council Kundapur were felicitated by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi. He also distributed the prizes. This was followed by solemn mass celebrated by bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo.
Fr Francis D’Souza, spiritual director of SSVP Central Council Mangalore, Fr Anil D’Souza, spiritual director, St Jacob Council Kundapur, Albert Sequeira, Fr Alphonse D’Lima, spiritual advisor and parish priest of Gangolli Church, Elroy Kiran Crasto, president, Valerian Menezes, Edward Cardin, Vimala Danti , Vinod Gangolli, Vice president of parish council Gangolli Church, were present on the dais.
Edward Cardin welcomed the gathering. Gration Crasta delivered the vote of thanks.
