Agartala, Dec 12 (IANS): Ten people, including a child and three women, were killed and four critically injured when the jeep in which they were travelling collided with a mini-truck in Tripura, an official said Wednesday.
The jeep carrying passengers collided with a goods-laden mini-truck at Dhanpur bordering Sonamura sub-division in western Tripura, 60 km west of here, Tuesday night, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sankar Chakraborty told IANS by phone.
"The accident also critically injured four others. Irate mobs set fire to the mini-truck after the accident," Sonamura said.
The injured were shifted to the Govind Ballabh Pant Medical College and Hospital here, where their condition was stated to be critical.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, who expressed deep shock over the deaths in the accident, said the state government would bear the cost of treatment of the injured.
The accident took place within 48 hours of another road mishap in which six people were killed and 20 others injured in a bus-jeep collision at Hezamara also in western Tripura, 42 km north of here, Sunday night.
Police said foggy weather and rash driving caused the accident.
