Kasargod: Thieves Target Jewellery Store, Decamp with Gold, Silver Worth Rs 20 Lac

Kasargod, Dec 1: Thieves broke into Nakshathra  Jewellery store, here, and decamped with gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 20 lac on Friday November 30.

The incident came to light only when the owners opened the shutter the next day morning at around 9.30 am.

The robbers reportedly got into the jewellery shop by pushing aside the tiles and then breaking the roof. The miscreants then broke open the locker and decamped with about 75 sovereigns of gold, 14.3 kg silver, copper, and Rs 10,000 cash.

It is said that Nakshathra Jewellery Store has been trading for more than twenty years. It is jointly owned by Sajesh of Calicut and Muthappa of Odaghar.

The shop is located at a distance of about half a kilometre from the police station.

A case has been registered in the Kasargod town police station.

Finger print experts and canine squad arrived at the spot.
