Mangalore, Dec 1: St Theresa School, Bendur celebrated its annual day function at the school premises on November 30.
The programme began with a soulful prayer song and the audience was welcomed with a dance by the students.
Sr Wiberta, superior general of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany and the president of the Bethany Educational Society addressed the gathering and advised that along with the changing times; educational institutions must also reinvent themselves.
“The institutions must adopt meaningful interventions to achieve their goals. The parents must accompany their children in the growth process and teachers must motivate to ignite their minds” she said.
JR Lobo, chairman of administration committee, Pilikula, the chief guest said that, “education along with knowledge is a training to face the society in the future”.
Pratap Reddy, ISP, IGP Western Range, Mangalore who was the guest of honor requested the parents that apart from academics to imbibe the students in the rich heritage of the country.
Sr Premitha, the principal presented the school report highlighting the result of the ICSE board examination by securing 100 % results for eight consecutive years which shows commendable progress of the school.
The top scorers for the year 2011 were honored with trophies.
English drama ‘King and I’ and a Hindi skit ‘Bola Ram ka Jeev’ were unveiled by the students. The Hindi skit showcased the fears of haunting the corrupt people.
The grand finale ‘Vimochane’, was a Kannada ballet which connoted the liberation through three protagonists Moses, Jesus and RFC Mascarenhas, the servant of God.
Sr Rose Celine, secretary of Bethany educational society and the correspondent of the school welcomed the gathering.
The vote of thanks was propsed by Sr Anitha Menezes, vice principal and the programme was anchored by Nigel D’costa and Rachel Cutinha.
