Kundapur, Nov 28: "In India, economic plans and developmental projects keep changing according to the change in governments," said Dr H Shantharam, administrative officer, Academy of General Education, Manipal.
He was speaking after inaugurating the UGC sponsored two day national seminar on “11th plan experiences and 12th plan expectations (Financial and Social Inclusion)” organized by the department of economics, Bhandarkars’ College in association with Mangalore University Economics Association, held on November 27.
He opined every plan should be reviewed before the implementation at a frequent level. It is necessary for the development in India. But in India a plan formulated by one government is not carried forward by the next government. It is changed and revised by the ruling party which affects the success of the plan.
He expressed all plans may be meaningful and successful through limited expectation. It must be considered and applicable in plans otherwise they will not succeed.
“We will not able to achieve our desired objectives”, he said.
Presiding over the function Dr Shivashankar Murthy, vice-chancellor, Mangalore University said that, “we have developed several aspects like social, economical and educational and science and technology for the past three decades. Preamble of our Constitution stresses on Equality, Poverty and Liberty. We should achieve these three aspects through our development plans.”
He opined, “India has developed different types of revolution like green, white, yellow, blue revolutions. We are used to empower in science and technology and atomic energy for peaceful uses and electric energy. These are our wonderful developments. Simultaneously, we are faced with a lot of problems on social, political and other inclusions”.
Dr.Shubhir Gokarna, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India has sent a key note address through a CD and said that inclusive growth in India has not covered all sections of the society due to certain economic difficulties such as inequality, poverty etc. Further he explained different dimensions of inclusive growth strategy that are adopted by the Reserve Bank of India.
Dr Prabhakar Shishila’s books on managerial economics, market structure and cost analysis and Parisara ArthaShasthra were released by Dr H Shantharam, administrative officer, Academy of General Education, and Manipal on this occasion.
Dr Subramani R, Deputy General Manager, Syndicate Bank, was present at the occasion.
Programme co-ordinator professor Narayana Rao, professor Chandrashekar Doma, Dr Prakash Rao, Secretary of Mangalore University Economics Association were also present.
