Udupi: Locals Demand Ouster of Notorious Elements, Stage Protest

Udupi, Nov 24: Residents of Pakeeranakatte on Friday November 23 staged a protest demanding ouster of a notorious group indulging in immoral activities in the area, from the locality.
As per the information received, the group was involved in various cases, with some even being accused of murder.
The accused are P K Mayyadi, Kabir, Basheer, Jaleel, Jabbar, Khalid, Ibrahim, Ilias, Hamzad and Sattar.
Former president of local Jammat Bashir Ahmed alleged that the accused were residing in Pakeeranakatte for the past two years. "They consume ganja everyday and indulge in theft, robbery, cattle theft, selling cattle meat, and eve-teasing of school and college going girls," he said.
On Thursday around 8.30 pm, the group attacked a few locals like Hyder, Althaf, UK Hameed, Shameer, Rafiq, Mayyadi, Nawaz and Irfan. They were attacked with sticks and knife. The attack evoked a big fight between the two groups said locals.
In this regard, the locals demanded the ouster of the accused from the area. A complaint was filed by the residents at Kapu police station and they also decided to complain with the tahsildar, deputy commissioner and police commissioner.
U K Hameed, head of Jammat, B Haider, Mohammed Iqbal, Ittappa Anchan, Hariprasad among others were part of the peaceful protest.
