Fascinating Ullal Beach Festival Awaits Mangaloreans

Mangalore, Nov 22: On the occasion of silver jubilee celebrations of Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala, Ullal, the club will organize its maiden beach festival at Ullal beach on Saturday November 24 and Sunday November 25.
Addressing a press meet at Summer Sands beach resort, Bharath Kumar, president of Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala silver jubilee committee, president of Ullal Beach Festival committee said that the newly-constructed building of government-aided Mogaveera higher primary school will be inaugurated on the occasion.
Speaking about the new school building, he said that the building project was initially started with a budget of Rs 45 lac, but now the total cost incurred is Rs 1.25 crore. "An estimated Rs 25 lac for the project was funded by MRPL and various other donors also contributed. The government has only funded Rs 3.30 lac," he added. The school presently consists of 521 children.
Bharath Kumar in his address gave a brief introduction on the activities of Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala over the past 25 years. He said that the association has contributed vastly to the society. "The association has conducted blood camps, health checkups, provided health benefits, free books and uniform to students and so on. Rs 20 lac for the school building has been funded by the club members from their earnings which is commendable," he said.
The beach festival has been organized at a budget of Rs 35 lac. "The government has not funded even a single rupee for the festival. The funds for the festival have been collected from well wishers and donors," he said.
Events like dance festival, star-studded evening, beach games, food festival, kite show, water sports, dance festival and sand art will be the centers of attraction.
On November 24, the beach festival will commence with beach throwball tournament, Kabbadi tournament in the morning and kite show in the afternoon. The inauguration of the school building will be at 5 pm, followed by musical nite by singer Vijayaprakash of Oscar award winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ fame. Noted artist Vilas Nayak, who was a finalist in 'India's Got Talent' reality show last year, will be holding a painting exhibition.
On November 25, there will be various competitions like sand sculpture, boat race, swimming competition and others. At 5 pm, the dance festival which is one of the major events will witness 20 teams battling for the title. Actors Tennis Krishna and Jennifer Kotwal are also expected to participate in the beach festival.
All the necessary arrangements like traffic diversion and parking have been done, and more than one lac people are expected to visit, said Bharath.
