Mangalore, Nov 21: Lakshya 2k12, an idea conceptualized and a platform created for the students of various/inter-department streams at AIMIT, St Aloysius College, Mangalore, to come forward and exhibit their talents was held on 20 Nov, 2012 at the auditorium of AIMIT campus of St Aloysius College, Mangalore.
Pencil sketching and painting competition, the cooking competition, rangoli competition, “saptaswaram‟ - the singing competition, the preliminary round of the event JAM (just a minute), the prelims of quiz competition and preliminary round of the dance competition were held during the past one month.
The mehendi competition was held on October 31 .The coding event was conducted on October 5, and ‘The Best Manager Event’ conducted on October 27. The Web-Designing Event was conducted on November 15, the pick and speak event took place on November 9 and the product launch event was held on November 17.
Lakshya 2012, the final of the series of cultural events was inaugurated on the November 20 at 9:30 am.
The Master of Ceremony was Shruthi K. Fr Denzil Lobo , dean professor Santhosh Rebello, staff coordinators of Lakshya, Rakesh Kumar and Melissa Castelino, and the student coordinators Rithesh Ullal and Prashasthi Anchan were on dais for the inaugural.
The college choir led the prayer song. The welcome address was delivered by the student coordinator of Lakshya Rithesh Ullal.
The chief-guest of the event Fr Denzil Lobo addressed the gathering. He explained the meaning of the word Lakshya and spoke to the enthusiastic audience on the importance of co-curricular activities along with the curricular studies. A formal inauguration was done by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries on the dias.
After which the inter-departmental Talent Hunt Competition “Lakshya-2012‟ was declared open.
The formal function was concluded with the college anthem.
The other events began with the final round of quiz at 10 am. The quiz masters were Niksap Shetty , Lakshmeesh Hegde and Sooraj Bangera. The second round of the best manager was held between 11 to 12 . 9 members out of the 22 participants were selected for this “3 minutes to Fame‟ round. The judges of the event were Ruban S and Suchetha Vijaykumar.
The final round of product launch was also conducted. Six teams participated. The event was judged by the external judges Neil Goveas and Nirmala David.
The next event was the dance competition held between 1:45 to 2:30. The finals of solo and group performance was conducted and enjoyed by one and all.
The finals of singing competition was conducted between 3 to 4 pm. The selected teams gave very melodious performances.
The finals of JAM was conducted in the gallery. A total of 6 participants were selected for the final round. The event was judged by Mr.Lanwin Lobo. 2 rounds were conducted to select the winner.
The next event held was the most anticipated and awaited one among the students. The fashion show was held with its entire splendor to enthrall the audience.
A total of 7 teams participated in the event depicting the various themes chosen by them under the banner of Indian traditions.
The judges for the event were Lanwin Lobo, Deborah Vijay and Rajini Suresh.
The staff coordinators were Annapoorna Shetty and Nausheeda. The student coordinator was Supriyanka G.
The last event for the day was the finals of the best manager event---the stress interview round. 4 members were selected for this final round.
The event was judged by Suman Lasrado, Thomas CG, and Colin D’Souza. To cap it all, Fr Denzil sang “Besame Mucho”, a Spanish song.
