Mangalore, Nov 21: The new student council was inaugurated here at decennial hall in Father Muller’s Medical College on Tuesday November 20.

Fr Denzil Lobo, director of AIMIT, Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director of FMMC, Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator and Dr JP Alva, dean shared the dais.

The following are the office bearers for the year 2012-13; Sanjay George as president, Simona Venessa as vice president, Manjula J as general secretary, Insha Shabir as joint secretary, Sheen Maria Jacob as cultural secretary, Deepak Varghese as magazine director, Nithi Titus as sports secretary, Mathew Shaja as secretary for media committee, Melenie Pinto as secretary for Student development committee, Nikil Mathew as secretary for technical committee, Arnild Fedrick D’Souza for secretary for fine arts committee.

The new office bearers were declared by Fr Denis D’Sa, Dr JP Alva led the student council in oath while Fr Denzil Lobo handed over the badges.

Fr Denzil Lobo in his address shared few thoughts about leadership. He said people who boast cannot bring about changes in the society, only those who are dedicated can do so.

"Leaders are those who influence life of others towards their goal and make good choices to achieve goal", said Fr Denzil.

He said that leadership is mainly inspirational. He wished the students to follow these ideals adding to this he said that  the country is in dire need of it.

Fr Patrick in his presidential address asked students to give first place to god by imbibing the values which represents god, secondly he asked them to have concern for others and lastly to think about their self. Only then you will be a true leader not only restricting to campus, but in the society and in the personal life, he added.

On the occasion, the outgoing president George and incoming president Sanjay George shared their experience.

B Sunitha, general secretary welcomed the gathering and Manjula delivered the vote of thanks.
