Mangalore: Delegation Urges Shift of Ration Card Office Back from Ullal

Mangalore, Nov 15: A delegation led by MLA U T Khader met deputy commissioner Dr Channappa Gowda and urged him to sort out the issue regarding shift of ration card office to Ullal, which has caused inconvenience to the general public.
A memorandum addressed to the deputy director, food and civil supply department, DK district, stated that residents of Bajal, Veera Nagar, Alape, Kannur, Jeppina Mogeru, Adankudru, Kankanady B and Pumpwell depended on the office located in the DC’s office premise for enrolling their names for ration cards, and making changes if any. However, now the office has been shifted to Town Municipal office in Ullal, causing them incovenience.
The memorandum also mentioned that as the new office is located in the outskirts of the city, people of of these places find it very difficult to ply to Ullal as it requires changing buses.
J Nagendra Kumar, corporator, president of Mangalore South Block Congress Committee who was in the delegation told daijiworld that the DC has promised to shift the office to its previous location in the DC's office building within a week's time. ‘Technical problem’ is said to be the root cause for shifting the office.
