Mexico City, Nov 15 (IANS/EFE): Mexican prosecutors are investigating the death of a 10-year-boy who was shot inside a movie theatre here, said authorities.
Hendrik Cuacuas, his sister and their father were watching a film at the Plaza Ermita cinema in Mexico City's Iztapalapa borough Nov 2 when the kids' dad "heard a buzzing near his ear" that was quickly followed by a thunderous pop, the capital district attorney's office said in a statement.
The father then noticed that Hendrik was having convulsions and that the boy's head was bloody.
After receiving first aid at one hospital, Hendrik was taken to another clinic for surgery, but he died two days later, the DA's office said.
Police determined the bullet was fired from a nearby shopping center and pierced the roof of the theater before striking the child.
The company that owns the theater, Cinepolis, expressed "solidarity" with Hendrik's family and said the personnel working at the time of the incident did everything they could to help the wounded boy.
