Mangalore, Nov 14: Sanidhya and Manjunath Friends Circle (MFC) jointly celebrated the Diwali festival at the Saanidya Residential School Hall, in Shaktinagar on Sunday November 11.
The chief guests were given a grand welcome by the school band headed by Harry and played by the differently abled students themselves.
The programme commenced by lighting the auspicious lamp and the traditional diyas by the dignitaries present on the dais.
Harish K, commissioner, MCC; Aboobaker, president, Minority Commission; Vishwas Das, managing trustee, Sai Mandir, Ladyhill; Ravish Manila, president, MFC; Ganesh Rao, chairman, Karavali group of Colleges; Mahabala Marla, president of Sri Ganesha Seva Trust and Vasanth Shetty, honarary president, Sri Ganesha Seva trust and Sanidhya were the guests for the event.
Harish K also released the paper hand bags that they prepared themselves out of old newspapers. "These bags can also be used as a substitution for plastic bags, as plastic bags are banned from use", said Vasanth Shetty.
Speaking on the occasion, Harish K urged all the parents and teachers to teach their special students to think differently. Their different and unique thinking capacity will guide them towards doing right and help them achieve success. He also promised the trust to give them all the help that is in his capacity.
Ganesh Rao, in his address, conveyed his diwali wishes to all the children and to the gathering. He further announced a donation of Rs 1 lac towards the trust.
Vishwas Das and Abbobaker also spoke on the occasion and wished every one a happy diwali.
A dance and a mythological music play (Shamanthaka Mani) was also performed by the differently abled children.
The children celebrated the joy of diwali by burning fire crackers with the assistance of teachers and parents.
