Mangalore: City Hospital Celebrates 25 Years of Service with Fitting Ceremony

Mangalore, Nov 11: The silver jubilee celebration of the City Hospital Research and Diagnostic Centre was held at T V Raman Pai Convention Centre here on Saturday November 10.
Dr M Veerappa Moily, union minister for petroleum and natural gas and Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, were the guests of honour. N Vinay Hegde, chancellor, Nitte University, presided over the function. Dr Bhaskar Shetty, managing director, City Hospital, Dr Roshan Shetty and Dr Rohan Shetty, directors, City Hospital, were present on the dais.
The silver jubilee celebration was formally inaugurated by lighting the auspicious lamp by all the dignitaries.
Speaking after the inauguration, Veerappa Moily said that City Hospital began 25 years ago with just 20 beds and now it has reached a 200-bed capacity and has training institutions as well. "City Hospital has the capacity to provide all specialized medical treatments," he said.
"City Hospital has provided people with the best of services and comfortable care at low and affordable costs. Its trauma centre treats all sorts of cases including accident relief with ambulance services. The hospital posseses state-of-the art modern facilities and excellent service. It has been a household name in hospitality and medical facilities," he said.
He further said that the hospital has established a milestone in medical healthcare for 25 years, and now, it is going into a new horizon. "DK and Udupi districts have been pioneers in the healthcare sector and in providing medical facilities," he added.
Addressing the gathering, Nalin Kumar Kateel said that by establishing such an renowned healthcare centre, Dr Bhaskar Shetty had given a prominent gift to the society. "The hospital has, in the last 25 years, preserved the quality of its service towards its patients," he said, expressing his gratitude and pride in being a part of the celebrations.
The new unit of endoscopic treatment was also inaugurated on this occasion by Dr M Veerappa Moily.
A large number of well-wishers, doctors, students and staff were present.
