Mangalore: Severed Head of Cow Sparks Tension at Farangipet

Mangalore, Nov 9: Tension prevailed at Farangipet near here on Friday November 9 after a severed head of a cow was found placed on a (katte).
The katte had been built by Bajarang Dal Chatrapati Shivaji Shake, Kumdel.
The severed head was found on a katte near the new Farangipet entrance.
As soon as the news spread, a large number of people gathered at the spot and began a flash protest. They shouted slogans and demanded the police to catch the miscreants by evening.
"Earlier too such incidents have taken place but police have not taken any action. We demand immediate action in this case," they said.
The protestors blocked the highway and vehicle movement near Farangipet came to a standstill.
Police have rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control with much effort. Heavy police security has been deployed at the spot.
The highway was later cleared after police assurance that culprits will caught soon. The protestors warned that if they are not arrested by 6 pm on Friday, they would gherao the Bantwal police station.
It is said that the miscreants may have placed the severed head of the cow on Thursday November 8 night. The incident came to light on Friday morning when Bharat, a local along with friends Shubhakar and Kishore went to the katte to offer prayers as per routine. Bharat found a plastic bag placed on the katte, and on opening, found the cow's head.
Ashok Shetty Sarapady, Jeetendra Kottary, Sharan Pumpwell, Pradeep Pumpwell and others are part of the protest.
Bantwal town police have registered a case and investigations are on.
