Kundapur, Nov 8: In an incident of moral policing gone too far, a gang caught hold of a brother and sister and handed them over to police here on Wednesday November 7. Interestingly, the victim was a JD(S) leader.
Sources said that JD(S) leader Manjunath Nayak and his sister were having a tea in a canteen near taluk office. A group of youth on suspicion caught hold of them and handed them over to the police.
Police while interrogating the duo, came to know that they were siblings.
Manjunath Nayak had visted the tauk office along with his sister for some property work. Later they went to a nearby canteen for a cup of tea. Meanwhile a group confronted them and started questioning them in a rude manner, demanding to know their caste, religion, and relationship and so on.
The group claimed that they belong to a Hindu organization.
Later, speaking to media, Manjunath Nayak said that police should take strict action against such miscreants. "People are cannot move around freely and without fear because of such miscreants. Police needs to take stringent action on this," he said.
