Mangalore, Nov 5: The Karnataka State Hajj Committee, Mangalore Hajj Organization and Yenepoya Speciality Hospital jointly felicitated M R Vasudeva, retired director of Mangalore International Airport and J T Radhakrishna, present Airport director at Yenepoya Speciality hospital here on Monday November 5.
Acknowledging the felicitation, M R Vasudeva said, "I have not had any big achievement as such, but have just done my duty faithfully. I am very proud to receive this felicitation in the presence of such dignified people."
"KCCI and many other organizations have helped me in shaping ideas about the Mangalore International Airport terminal and the new cargo block that is on the anvil. The developments in the airport will continue further with your support and cooperation under the guidance of the new director," he added.
He further said that the media has helped him a lot, especially during the time of rehabilitation of locals.
"The present director is not new, but has assisted me in almost all the infrastructural developments as assistant manager, and hence, he knows the the airport and its infrastructure", he assured.
J T Radhakrishna said that Vasudeva is a down-to-earth person and has put in a lot of effort for the overall development of the airport.
Mohammed Ameen, president of KCCI, said that the retirement and departure of Vasudeva is a huge loss to the people of Mangalore. "Vasudeva has worked a lot for the development of the airport, especially the new international terminal and the air cargo hub. He has put in his efforts and his soul for all our dreams to come true."
Maaz Ahmed Shareef, CEO, State Hajj Committee, Usman Haji, president, Mangalore Hajj Committee, Budan Basha, president, Udupi district Hajj committee, Yenepoya Mohammed Kunhi, chairman, Yenepoya University, Y Abdullah Kunhi, chancellor, Yenepoya Groups, Moideen Bawa, Minority Commission and Azeez Baikampady were present during the occasion.

Mangalore, Nov 5: Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza felicitated M R Vasudeva, the retired director of Mangalore International Airport on Monday November 5 at Bishop’s House on behalf of the Diocese of Mangalore.
"We were happy to have a very cordial person in M R Vasudeva who has been very instrumental in making Mangalore Airport an international one and breaking the distance between gulf and Mangalore as many of our people are travelling from Gulf to Mangalore and Mangalore to Gulf often," said Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza.
"I was very happy to work in Mangalore and Mangaloreans have always recognized my presence and services here’ said Vasudeva responding to the Bishop’s felicitation.
Vasudeva was born on October 10, 1952, in Narasimharajapura, Chicmagalur district. Together with M Sc in statistics from Mysore University he holds MBA in marketing management from IGNOU, PG diploma in personnel management from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan and graduate diploma in management from AIMA. He has also a distinction of being radar controller ISO lead auditor and marketing manager.
He was the Airport Director of Mangalore since April 10, 2002 with a short gap in between when he was transferred to Cochin. Under his direction many projects of Mangalore airport have been completed and the long awaited dream of Mangaloreans of having an international airport has come into reality. He was retired recently.
Mangalore Diocesan PRO Fr William Menses, Marcel Monteiro, Chairman of the Tourism wing of Canara Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mangalore Ms Ealalia D’Souza and others were present on the occasion.
