Belthangady, Nov 5: Sacred Heart Church Madanthyar, organized a half day training session to all the members of the PPC and ward Committee (SCCs) on November 4.
The purpose of this is to revive SCCs in building up a participatory church. Fr Walter D'Souza the director of SCCs of Mangalore Diocese celebrated the Holy Mass at 7:45 am and preached on the importance of SCCs in building the kingdom of God in our neighbourhood.
The Holy Eucharist was followed by a training session. Parish Priest Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas delivered the inaugural message and said that SCCs play a major role in making the parish and the church at large very vibrant.
"In this year of faith we need to make SCCs lively through which we can grow in faith very strong". He appealed the ward leaders to take this as a pastoral priority.
PPC secretary Blany D'Souza welcomed the gathering.Vice president J R Sera, proposed the vote of thanks. Philomena Gonsalves compered the entire programme.
Fr Walter D’Souza, the director of SCCs for Mangalore diocese was the resource person along with Robert D'souza and Asha Monteiro.
Sessions included how to conduct meaningful ward meetings, deeper understanding of Gospel sharing, evaluation of SCCs and clarification of doubts through power point presentations.
141 members were present including 8 nuns from two convents.
