Mangalore, Nov 5: Thieves broke into a jewellery shop on the night of Saturday November 3 here near Mudipu junction.
The thieves managed decamp with 2 kg Silver worth Rs 80,000 from the jewellery shop.
As per the information received, the thieves entered the shop by breaking through the ventilator rods. When they were unable to loot the gold ornaments, they managed to get away with silver jewellery.
The incident came to light on Sunday morning when the shop was opened.
Inspector Shiva Prakash along with a team of fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs rushed to the spot.
The theft cases at the Konaje station limits have been increasing over the past three months. Two months ago, a major theft took place at Umar Kunhi’s house near Mudipu checkpost where thieves managed to loot 45 sovreigns of gold and Rs 30,000 cash.
In another case, on September 7, thieves made an attempt to loot around seven houses near Samabaar Thota.
A diamond ring belonging to Kanachur Monu was stolen at Deralakatte. Some thieves also made an attempt to break the shutter of a Syndicate bank near Deralakatte junction where they were unsuccessful.
All the above cases are being investigated by the Konaje police.
