Mysore : Couple in Love Marry Before Killing Selves

Mysore, Oct 31 (DHNS) : In a gruesome incident, a couple in love from the city entered into wedlock before killing selves by hanging to a tree at Bhyraveshwara Hills, in Bilikere police limits in Hunsur taluk in the district on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Mahadeva Swamy (25) son of Venkatesh and Kavya (18) daughter of Ramesh, residents of Yaraganahalli on Bannur road in the city. Both belong to the same Vokkaliga caste and economic disparity may be the cause for their deaths, SP R Dileep told Deccan Herald.

Police said, Kavya a second PUC student of Teresian College in the city was in love with Mahadeva Swamy a driver with her father. Ramesh was running Chamundeshwari Water Supplies and Swamy was the tanker driver. Recently Kavya’s elder sister’s marriage was fixed and the former was apprehensive that she had to follow her sister in marriage sooner or later.

The two who went to the hills in the morning, entered into wedlock before hanging selves to a tree in front of the temple. A piece of turmeric tied to the sacred thread and found in the neck of Kavya substantiates this, the investigators said.

The incident came to light with the help of Mahadeva Swamy’s friends. Before taking the extreme step, Mahadava Swamy had called his friend from his cellphone. Quoting his friend, whose name police refused to divulge, the police said, Mahadeva Swamy had borrowed the motorcycle from his friend and had called him only to say that he had parked the vehicle at a spot from where he can take it back. The friend in question, who grew suspicious reached the spot along with another only to discover the incident.
