Mangalore: Gallant Auto Driver Steps in to Marry Jilted Bride

Mangalore, Oct 29: A man who promised to marry a girl from a poor family, did not turn up on the wedding day, as a result of which an auto driver stepped into marry the jilted bride.
It is learnt that a match was made between the girl who was from Kanngudde and Prasad from Krishna Nagar in Bondel. All necessary arrangements were made for their wedding and the muhurat was scheduled for 11:50 am. But as the wedding ceremony began, the groom was found to be missing.

Even after a long wait, there was no clue of Prasad, and finally it dawned on the girl's family that Prasad was gone for good.
It was then that Ramachandra Suvarna, an auto driver and son of Guruvappa Poojary of Bajal, an acquaintance of the family, stepped in heroically to save the girl from shame, and married her.
The marriage that was scheduled for October 28 afternoon was held in the evening on the same day.
The reason for the groom's disappearance is yet to be ascertained.
It is said Prasad, a coolie who also used to work as a caterer at times came to know the girl's uncle and developed friendship with him. The uncle, impressed with the Prasad's nature and his manners, extended the girl's hand in marriage, as her father had passed away years ago. Prasad agreed, and the date of the marriage was also fixed four months ago. However, at the eleventh hour he failed to turn up leaving the family in the lurch.
