Mangalore: Konkani Sahitya Academy Felicitates P V Sujeer, Alban Castelino

Mangalore, Oct 27: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy felicitated P V Sujeer, veteran painter and Prof Alban Castelino, Konkani litterateur and singer during ‘Konkani Sageetha Dhara’ programme held at the Academy hall here on Saturday October 27.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Ganapathi Pai Godse, businessman said, "The Academy has been doing excellent work in recognizing the contribution of those who have served Konkani language silently."
Citing the list of programmes of the Academy Godse said, "Within a short span of time Kasargod Chinna has organized so many programmes that no other president could have done, and Chinna's future plans are so many that his term may have to be extended for some more years," he opined.
Lauding the works of the Academy, chief guest Sanjay Prabhu, director, Magnum Intergrafiks said, "I am glad that people's efforts towards preserving and promoting Konkani are fittingly recognized by the Academy. Such programmes are necessary for the growth of the language and its culture"
In his presidential address Kasargod Chinna said, "We recongnise only those who have worked for Konkani selflessly and not those who have ‘mania’ for publicity or recognition. Lobbying does not work because the Academy goes in search of people who have been contributing to the development of Konkani. It is our duty to bring those people into focus from every nook and corner and thereby recognize their work."
He asked veteran artistes and litterateurs to guide the younger generation.
Shet Kamalakar Gangoli, renowned Hindustani singer presented a Konkani Sangeeth programme on the occasion.
Dr B Devdas Pai, registrar, Roy Castelino, Academy member and others were present.
