Mangalore, Oct 23: Congress president Sonia’s open challenge to reveal the details on using the central fund of Rs 80,000 crore to the state was categorically countered by higher education minister and district incharge C T Ravi at a press conference held at the Circuit House here on Tuesday October 23.
Ravi asserted that Sonia Gandhi is not the right person to ask details on central funds to states as it is a grant allotted as per the policies of a federal nation. "It is the duty of CAG of India (Comptroller Auditor General of India) to demand for statement of accounts," he said.
"The money was not released from any person's pocket in the center, rather the amount is due to the state on the basis of a federal system," he added.
He counter-attacked the Congress calling it the root cause of all corruption and said that corruption started when Nehru was the Prime Minister of India. He termed Sonia’s remark on the state government as 'Bhagavadgeeta in the devil's mouth'.
"The state BJP will hold protests from November 10 to 20 on three different issues viz. corruption, price rise and internal security to counter terrorist activities.
BJP Leaders Anwar Manippady, Padmanabha Kottari, MP Nalin Kumar Katil, MLC Monappa Bhandary among others were present at the press meet.
