Margao: Team Goa Wins Inter-Zonal Cricket Championship

Margao, Oct 20: The tenth All India Inter-Zonal Tennis ball Cricket Championships (men) was held from October 15 to October 17 at the PJN Practice ground, Fatorda, Margao

The championship was organized by the Goa tennis ball Cricket Association and Tennis Ball Cricket federation of India in collaboration with the sports authority of Goa.

The Goa men team defeated Madhya Bharat in the final. Madhya Bharath scored 38 runs all out in 7 overs, Chandan Dongrekar took 3 wickets.

Goa scored the required runs in 5.5 overs , Saiesh Shirgaokar scored 18 runs for Goa team.

Earlier Goa defeated Jharkhand men team and Madhya Bharat had defeated Andhra Pradesh in the semi-finals.

Later the Jharkhand team defeated Andhra Pradesh to clinch the third place.

Saiesh of Goa bagged the best batsman of the championship whereas Patidar of Madhya Bharat bagged the best bowler of the championship.

Altogether 16 state and unit teams took part in the championship which was played on league cum knock-out basis.

Benzamin Silva, MLA and chairman of Goa khadi and village industry board, government of Goa was the chief guest for the valedictory prgramme.

Tausif Lari, newly elected secretary general of TBCFI; Gurudas Vernekar, stadium manager, PJN stadium; Kanta naik, president, GTBCA; Ropesh V. Naik, secretary, GTBCA; Manzoor Beig and Gynanvel, vice-president, TBCFI and other dignitaries were present.

The successful teams and players were presented with shields, medals and certificates from the chief guest and other guests of honor present.

The championship was well co-ordinated by the officials of GTBCA and SAG officials.
