Udupi: Truck - Sumo Collision - Death Toll Rises to Four

Udupi, Oct 15: Four persons were killed in an accident between a truck carrying gas cylinders and a Tata Sumo at Padubidri here on Monday October 15. Though initial reports put the number of dead at three, it is learnt that one of the injured persons passed away in the hospital.
The accident occured at Thenka Yermal.
The deceased have been identified as Shaji (43), Vijayan (52), Shanta and Jayanti N S, all from Ernakulam, Kerala.
The occupants of the Tata Sumo were on their way from Kerala to Kollur.
Shaji's wife Lalitha (40), daughter Arunina (14), Shanta's son Nandu (11), Jayanti's son Kannan (12) and Babu (45) were injured. They have been admitted to hospitals in Manipal and Mangalore.
Shaji, Shanta and Jayanti were siblings, while Vijayan was Shanta's husband.
The nine were on their way to Sri Mookambika Temple for Navaratri
The truck was plying from Udupi to Mangalore.
Padubidri police have registered a case.
