New Delhi, Oct 14 (IBNS): Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Sunday called yoga guru Baba Ramdev a 'thug' (cheat) and said 'nothing else' could be expected from him.
"I have always maintained Ramdev is a THUG and nothing else can be expected from him. Let truth come out regarding his evil deeds completely!" tweeted Singh.
Singh made the remarks at a time when the Uttarakhand government recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in connection to disappearance of Divya Yog Mandir Trust founder and Ramdev's mentor Swami Shankar Dev five years ago.
Singh had earlier raised the issue of Swami Shankar Dev's disappearance and said 'something was wrong' in the matter.
Reacting on the matter, he tweeted on Saturday: "Ramdev is clearly rattled. CBI must unearth the truth behind disappearance of his Guru. His Guru had Veto power on his financial dealings!"
Ramdev had earlier negated the allegations that he had a fight with his mentor.
He welcomed the Uttarakhand government's decision of recommending a CBI probe in the case.
The yoga guru said he is not afraid of any probe.
"I am ready for any probe. I am not afraid of any probe," Ramdev told reporters on Saturday.
"I submitted a memorandum to the President last year and demanded a CBI investigation or any probe under the supervision of a sitting Supreme Court judge," he said.
According to reports, Swami Shankar Dev went out for a morning walk in 2007 and never returned to the ashram at Haridwar city in Uttarakhand.
Ramdev's aide Acharya Balkrishna had lodged an First Information Report (FIR) at Haridwar's at Kankhal Police station in connection to the matter following which the state police had started investigating it.
The police earlier this year opted to file a closure report after it failed to make any headway in the case despite giving all efforts.
