Mangalore: BJP Mahila Morcha Lambasts UPA over Price Hike

Mangalore, Oct 12: In the wake of the recent hikes in LPG and other essential commodities, BJP Mahila Morcha staged a protest in front of the DC office here on Friday October 11.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Padmanabha Kottari, BJP district president, Kumble Sunder Rao, former MLA, Amita Kala, deputy mayor, K T Shailaja Bhat, former zilla panchayat president, Pulasya Rai, district president of BJP Mahila Morcha, Suman Sharan, district chief secretary and Shashiprabha led the protest.
Addressing the gathering, Nalin Kumar blamed the UPA government, which he said is mainly responsible for the hike in LPG, other fuels and essential commodities. He lauded BJP Mahila Morcha for taking up this brave and necessary step to fight for their rights.
"Due to the increase in prices of essential commodities, people belonging to the poor and the middle class families are facing a tough time," he said.
"UPA is corrupt from top to bottom and is encouraging corruption. Under their rule the entire UPA administration is not efficient in performing its duties," he added.
Nalin praised former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government where essential commodities were given at subsidized rates. "It was he who initiated gas supply to all rural areas," he said.
Nalin said that by increasing the prices of essential commodities, Congress party itself is 'commiting suicide'. "I am sure NDA government will soon rule the country," he said.
On Sonia Gandhi's visit to the city, he said that her rule will not work here.
Pulasya Rai, district president of BJP Mahila Morcha in her address said that Congress government is unfit to continue in power. She asked the people to wake up and work towards the removal of the government. "Only then the prices of essential commodities will come down," she added.
"Instead of wiping tears of the poor people, they are inviting curses on themselves by increasing the prices," she said, adding that if the government cannot control inflation, then it is better it steps down.
Hundreds of women participated in the protest shouting slogans against the UPA government.
Prem Anand Shetty, MT Salian, president of Kulai, Bhaskar I, Shakila Kava, Vedavathi, Rajni Dugganna, former mayor, Shakuntala D Karkera, Geetha Nayak, Sarojini Kotian, Prasanna Ravi among others were present.
