Mangalore: School Teacher Killed as Lorry Hits Bike

Mangalore, Oct 8: A woman was killed in an accident that occurred on Monday October 8 on NH 66 near Mukka check post.
The deceased has been identified as Janet D'Souza (32), a resident of Chelyar.
The accident occured when Janet was on her way towards Mangalore, riding pillion with her husband Anthony. A truck loaded with cement hit the bike from behind, throwing Janet on to the road. She died on the spot.
Anthony who was also thrown off the two-wheeler landed on the left side of the road, and escaped with minor injuries. He is recuperating in a hospital in the city.
Janet was a teacher in Holy Spirit School, Mukka and had also taken charge of the office work in the school.
Her husband owns a tailoring shop in Chelyar. The couple have two daughters.
The lorry driver tried to escape from the scene with his lorry, but as the Suratkal police received information from the Mulky check post, the lorry was stopped in front of the police station and the driver was arrested.
