Udupi, Oct 8: Two youths were killed on the spot while another was severely injured after the car in which they were travelling crashed into a lorry near Belgaum on Monday October 8.
Keerthiraj Shanthi and Sudhir Shanthi
The deceased have been identified as Sudhir Shanthi (28) and Keerthiraj Shanthi (29), residents of Manipura, Udupi district. Charan Shanthi, resident of Katapady, is said to be injured but out of danger.
Keerthiraj was married and has a one-year-old child. He and Sudhir were cousins.
The accident took place when they were returning to Udupi from Mumbai after attending Sudhir’s sister’s baby shower ceremony.
All the three are said to be priests from Billawa community. Charan Shanthi is a well-known priest, astrologer and vaastu architect. Sudhir and Keerthiraj were assisting Charan.
They are also known for their social services. Sudhir and Keerthiraj were backbone of Billawa Association, Manipura.
The bodies of Keerthiraj Shanthi and Sudhir Shanthi will brought to Manipura on Monday night.
MLA Lalaji Mendon, Vasanth Salian and other local leaders have condoled the demise of the youths.
