Bangalore, Sep 28: Coastal Dakshina Kannada ranked fourth in the disposal of applications under Sakala scheme during the month of August, announced Urban Development Minister S Suresh Kumar on Friday.
The minister, who is also in charge of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, said Dakshina Kannada received 71,131 applications and disposed 62,340, with the delay of 0.41 per cent in disposing of applications.
Kodagu, Chikballapur, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada and Kolar are top performing districts in August while Bidar (30th rank), Bangalore Urban (29th rank), Dharwad (28th), Hassan (27th) and Mysore (26th) are poor performing districts, the minister said.
Bangalore Urban District has performed poorly in the disposal of applications under Sakala scheme and it ranked 29th among 30 districts in the month of August.
The Minister released the Sakala report card of August and reviewed performance of the scheme in the State.
Bangalore Urban has received 3,17,301 applications (excluding commercial department) and disposed 3,01,437 applications in August, which accounted for 20.41 per cent of the total Sakala applications received in the State in August.
The maximum number of inquiries pertained to the Bangalore Water Supply Sewerage Board, Bangalore Development Authority and Revenue Department.
There was delay in the disposal of 8.46 per cent of total applications received in Bangalore Urban in August compared to just 0.20 per in Kodagu, which topped the list.
The Bidar district ranked last with the delay in the disposal of 11.08 per cent of total applications (50,629) received, the report said.
Bangalore Urban ranked last in the disposal of applications related to the Revenue Department. There was a delay in the disposal of 15.9 per cent of the total applications (1,47,694) while Chikballapur stood first and there was delay in the disposal of 0.1 per cent of applications.
Complex of procedures in service delivery, involvement of many agencies and corruption are major reasons for delay in the disposal of applications in Bangalore.
While BWSSB has received 5451 applications and disposed 4551, the BBMP has received 59,150 applications and disposed 55603. Delayed disposal constituted 8.86 per cent while pendency was 2.60 per cent of applications in the BBMP.
Suresh Kumar said the main purpose of the Sakala was to eradication of corruption and harassment meted out to citizens by officials of various agencies.
