Mangalore, Sep 28: "Set a goal in life, work unceasingly to achieve it, enjoy the fruit of the labour and finally give back to the society by helping less fortunate brethren by emulating the philanthropists like Mendonca family." said J R Lobo. He was inaugurating a day’s workshop on "Career Orientation" at Vamanjoor. He applauded the praiseworthy services rendered by the NRI Mendonca Family in educating the youth of Vamanjoor parish. Fr Joseph Cardoza, Parish Priest, urged the children to develop integral personality and invoked God’s blessings on the organizers and participants.
Prof Rolphie Mascarenhas, a renowned trainer, highlighted the need for developing an effective personality by acquiring requisite skills to face the challenges in life. He stressed the need of goal setting, prioritization and disciplined work in order to achieve success in one’s life by narrating examples of effective people in different fields. Dr Norbert Lobo, an excellent career counselor, spoke on "Excellence – need of the day" with practical examples and instances. He urged the participants to excel in life by working unceasingly till they achieve their goals in life.
During the post - lunch session, six panelists from different walks of life, hailing from Vamanjoor parish, shared their life experiences – the vision, the strategy they adopted, the hardship and struggle they underwent, the way they handled the situation, and now the satisfaction they derived. Lawrence Mendonca, shared the experiences of Mendonca family and about their establishments in Dubai, John Monteiro, the Secretary of RACHANA, spoke about his career, Melwyn D’Souza, member, Zilla Panchayath shared the secrets in political life, Philomena Madtha, highlighted the careers in civil services and the scope available to serve the humanity. Dr Norbert Lobo spoke about the opportunities available and threats prevailing in the field of education. Fr Roshan Crasta, the Assistant Parish Priest, highlighted the need of living a good humane life by practicing good values and ethics in every walk of life. The participants interacted with the panelists and sought clarifications. Prof Rolphie Mascarenhas moderated the session.
On behalf of Mendonca family Shobha Mendonca promised more training prorammes. She also urged the participants to acquire soft skills which are required to seek good employment. The Mendonca Family established a corpus in 2007 to provide financial assistance to the children of Vamanjoor Parish to continue their Higher Studies.
Lawrence Mendonca, Shobha Mendonca, and Celine Nazareth represented the Mendonca family. The day’s programme was coordinated by the Local Committee of Mendonca Educational Fund. Junifer Alvares – Convenor, Charles Pais – Secretary, Joachim D’Souza, Jerald Monteiro, Henry Pinto were present.
