Mangalore: U P Mallya Road to be Widened

Mangalore, Sep 27: The U P Mallya road near Car Street will be widened by 15 metres for a distance of 370 metres, said deputy commissioner Dr Channappa Gowda after inspecting the said road here on Thursday September 27.

The inspection was conducted by the DC along with MCC commissioner Harish Kumar and other officials.

The DC said that as many as 44 properties will be vacated alongside the road for the purpose of widening. The owners of the properties have already agreed to vacate and they will be given compensation or transferable development rights, he said.

The entrance of Mahalaxmi Ganapati Temple which falls under the area marked for widening will be pushed further inside, and places like Janatha Bazar will also be included in the plan.

The road widening work is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

    This shouldn't be happening, cause you'll have think about the people who are going to suffer who have their shops where the widening is going to take place. Well at least the Government has to reduce the widening size.!!

    the corporation is unable to widen the K.S.Rao road due to strong political strength

    I am requesting With DC & MCC Commissioner not to waste your time in Widening the Roads ,Instead of this Please Shift your DC Office,RTO Office,and Service Bus Stand,Then you can Reduce 70% of Traffic in side the City.

    Widening the roads is most welcome. Do not concretise them please. See the state of the concretised roads. Most have been dug up already for repairs. Asphalt the roads like the Mercara ghats. We should be proud that Indians can do a job like that.

    Happy to hear that a new road is taken up for widening, But for God's sake for the already widened roads, please provide footpaths first and secondly,cracks have taken place in the newly laid roads in front of PVS Bldg, please fill these and set right first.

    There are so many developmental work going on in our city of Mangalore as you all know, but it is all half done.If you visit at the beginning of K S Rao road near hampankatta signal poor public have to walk in drains literally without completing all this work starting a new project like this is i feel will be a laughing stock Isnt it?.please first and foremost provide footpaths for padestrians and think of vehicular density
