Udupi, Sep 27: After seeing the pathetic strive of Yakshagana comedian Boja Marakala for his survival, without even a house to live in, the Yakshagana Kalaranga team decided to construct a house for him.
His elder daughter Pallavi was awarded with ‘Vidhyposhak’. When the Yakshagana Kalaranga team visited his daughter for a survey of total Vidhyposhak beneficiaries, the team noticed the situation of the artist and thus decided to build a house for him.
A programme was conducted in this regard and Dr G Shankar inaugurated the function by lighting a lamp and also appreciated the work of Yakshagana Kalaranga team. He also assured help for continuing Pallavi’s education.
H Dananjaya Shetty, Prof M L Samaga, president of Karnataka Yakshagana Bayallata Academy and Kalla Ranga president Tallur Shivaram Shetty welcomed the gathering. Joint secretary M Narayana Hegde proposed the vote of thanks. The guests were honoured by S V Bhat.
