Islamabad, Sep 27 (IANS): Pakistan said Thursday that a quadrilateral summit here Oct 2-3 also involving Russia, Tajikistan and Afghanistan has been postponed.
New dates will be worked out after seeking the convenience of the respective leaders through diplomatic channels, Xinhua reported citing the foreign ministry.
The foreign ministry did not give any reason for the postponement.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was scheduled to attend the summit along with Afghan
President Hamid Karzai and Tajik President Emomalii Rahmon.
"In a letter to the president of Pakistan, President Vladimir Putin expressed his eagerness to jointly enhance our efforts to further develop Russian-Pakistani ties and advance mutually beneficial trade and economic projects," the foreign ministry statement said.
"I am confident that in future we shall be able to find opportunities for arranging our personal meeting. We shall always be happy to receive you in Russia," wrote Putin.
