Mangalore, Sep 22: Former state minister B Nagaraj Shetty, who was also the former chairman of Coastal Development Authority announced on Friday September 21 that he would be joining JD(S) on September 24, at the party’s programme to be held at Town Hall.
Addressing reporters, he said that at the JD(S) convention on September 24, former CM and state JD(S) president Kumarswamy, party leaders P G R Sindhya and M C Nanaiah will be present, and he would join JD(S) along with his supporters.
He said that though he had sent his resignation letter to BJP on August 13, there has been no response yet. "Hence, the resignation is deemed to have been accepted," he added.
He informed that he would not contest in the elections from the party but stabilize the party at ground level by campaigning in rural areas.
"I want to see Kumaraswamy as the CM again," he said.
Asked for his reason to quit BJP, Shetty said he was upset with the internal rivalry and groupism in the party. "No one from BJP came to meet me after I quit the party," he said.
Ranjith Malli was present at the press meet.
