Mangalore, Sep 18: Father Muller Hospital College (FMMC) will host a two-day International Cardio-Diabetes Conference (ICDC) - 2012 on September 22 and 23, said Dr Jayakrishnan A G, honarary secretary of FMMC.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday September 18, he said that heart disease is the biggest killer in India. "Prevention is better than cure, hence it is very necessary to create awareness about the heart diseases and prevent them rather than to wait for cure," he added.
"ICDC is been organsied by FMMC to mark the World Heart Day on September 22 and to create awareness. The WHO statistics have stated that not only the aged, but also the young, women and children are effected by heart diseases," he said.
Sessions relating to diseases that affect parts of the heart will be held, said Dr Prabhakar, organizing chairman of the programme.
Many eminent people from around the world, namely the USA, the UK, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the UAE and so on will be attending ICDC.
"This is probably for the first time Karnataka that such a conference is being held," said Fr Denis D’Sa, aministrator, FMMC.
Dr N Hegde, organizing co-chairperson and Dr Sudeep K, organizing secretary were present.
