London, Sep 18 (IANS): Spain playmaker David Silva will stay at Manchester City for another five years after the 26-year-old signed a new contract with the Premier League champions.
Silva, who joined City from Valencia in July 2010, was one of the key players to have helped them win a first English title since 1968 last season and now will be with City until the summer of 2017, reports Xinhua.
"The team is growing and we are now aiming at the Champions League and so that also is another reason to want to stay here and try and win it," he said.
Silva scored the opening goal in Spain's 4-0 win over Italy in the final of this year's European Championship and was also a member of the World Cup winning squad in 2010.
